Hay Festival

The Hay Festival originated in 1988 in Hay-on-Wye, a small town in Wales that emerged as a cultural focus due to its high concentration of bookstores.

Since then, every year a festival of art, literature and cultural diffusion is held, bringing together thousands of people to listen to authors, philosophers, journalists, and other figures from the world of knowledge and ideas. Debates, interviews, lectures, concerts and talks make up the menu year after year.

For the past 10 years, Hay Festival has also been held in the city of Arequipa, Peru.

The festival brings together dozens of personalities from the world of ideas, literature and culture from around the world in various forums and discussions in the white city.

Today “Hay” festivals are held in eight cities around the world, recognized for their social and cultural importance. These include Segovia, Querétaro, Abu Dhabi and Arequipa.

The legacy of British architecture in Peru

In celebration of the magnificent history and innovation of British architecture and design, we are proud to share these photographs. They show the result of British-Peruvian collaboration to help bridge the infrastructure gap in Peru.

This story began with the Government to Government (G2G) agreement for the Pan American and Para Pan American Games Lima 2019 and continues to grow through new G2Gs for the Reconstruction program, the Bicentennial Schools and the High Complexity Hospitals.

The British technical collaboration aims to deliver high quality, inclusive and sustainable infrastructure, using international best practices. Thanks to this collaboration, high-level discussion spaces were generated with the Peruvian government to transfer knowledge and methodologies used to develop world-class infrastructure in record time.

To date, more than 5 million people in Peru have benefited from these works.

We invite you to see architecture in a different way.
